The “art of eight limbs”

Muay Thai

Muay Thai, is a martial art originating from Thailand, which can be traced to the middle of the 18th century, although legend has it that it has been in existence for many hundreds of years before then.

Muay Thai forms an important and highly regarded part of Thai culture, traditionally boys and men from poor backgrounds can earn a living by becoming a Muay Thai fighter. Often referred to as the “Art of Eight Limbs” because fighters use 8 parts of the body in combat, 2 fists, 2 elbows, 2 knees and 2 feet, it is one of the most highly regarded martial arts in the world, more modern styles such as Kickboxing and MMA have adapted to include a lot of Muay Thai techniques.
